DESTINATION 2 &3 OF 10: Guimaras and Panay Island

Destination 2: Guimaras
April 16, 2010. To commemorate the Manggahan festival, the town of San Miguel held a dance contest with the locals as the participants. The festival was filled with colors of yellow and green.

MAGNIFICENT AT TOP VIEW. View from Guisi's old lighthouse, the new lighthouse, and the stretch of Clearwaters Beach Resort at Guisi, Nueva Valencia, Guimaras.
On the way to the lighthouse. You will have to take a hike from Clearwaters Resort to get to the ruins of lighthouse. My cousin and his wife behind the ruins
HIDDEN PARADISE. A peek from inside the lighthouse.
NICE BUT NOT ENOUGH. On the way down to Clearwaters Beach Resort. There's just too much for a small beach. Cottages are cramped, and there's too much different music playing at the same time. The food is expensive for the standard of the place too, so it's advisable to bring your own food. Grills are available for ihaw-ihaw though.
Guisi offers some interesting rock formations.
Destination 3: Capiz
PANAY CHURCH. This renovated church is one of the oldest in Asia, and is the home of the biggest bell in the continent as well. But the said bell was stolen by the pirates a long time ago, according to sources, and is said to be right now at the South China Sea.
An unusual fishing style at Talinting, Sapian, Capiz

DESTINATION 1 OF 10: Catanduanes

I've always wanted to travel and take photos, whether for work or just a personal longing. So, as my new year's resolution, I will travel ten destinations in the Philippines. It has to be somewhere I've never been to, although it can be of the same province.

So, destination uno, Catanduanes, Bicol

Marked in red are the places that me and my friends went to.
JUMP FOR JOY. Twin Rocks Beach Resort, Igang, Virac

MARIBINA FALLS. It is named after Barangays Marinawa and Binanwahan in the municipality of Bato. We swam in the cool water together with the locals.
BATO CHURCH.

SUNDAY AFFAIR. On the way to Puraran, we stopped by the river and found this happy family bonding.PURARAN BEACH. Sight in front of the Majestics Beach Resort. The whole beach was ours, as we're one of the few tourists then. when we went here, there were like only 3 rooms rented, including ours. There are I think less than ten cottages for rent here. The owner wanted it that way, pristine, calm, and uncluttered. At low tide, you can walk and hike a little on the rock formations.

LUYANG CAVE, San Andres. We weren't able to go inside, you have to be with a tour guide, and bring torches. Flashlights are of no use.

In front of the cave is a luscious forest.Mini grotto outside Luyang cave
Kids while waiting for their tatay. Virac market.

SIESTA NO MATTER WHAT. Notice the Vendors Not Allowed sign
ABACA. One of the products of Catanduanes

DAVAO 2009

Davao 2009

SOARING LIKE THE EAGLES DO. My feet hundreds of meters up from the ground, this was one of the first experiences, never done before things I dared to myself.
Zipline at Digos, Davao del Sur.

RAPPELLING. Mt. Apo at a far distance, covered by the clouds. It's best to stay overnight here(there are rooms for rent), do the zipline at sunrise and see Mt. Apo in all its glory.
Rappelling

On the way up to the zipline area

UMBRELLA. I caught this tree while I was on a van, on the way to the zipline.
SPIDER-LIKE FISHING BOAT.

LIVING ART. We stayed here at Ponce Suites, Davao City. This reminds me of Oh My Gulay in Baguio, even better. The owner is Kublai, an artist, and at the top of the mosaic gecko stairs is his painting area. I would recommend this place, clean, affordable, and has a lot creativity for your eyes and mind to savor.

WHEREVER THE TIDES WILL TAKE US. This is in Samal Island, Davao del Norte. We rode a ferry boat, unsure of where in Samal it will take us. I forgot the name of this beach where we ended up. Nevertheless, it was really worth it. Clear water, white sand, clean, and best of all, not too many tourists.

THE LOUDEST FRUIT IN THE WORLD. Banned in airplanes and hotels, the smell of durian is overpowering. Even so, Davao would be incomplete without this.

ARNY, THE CELEBRITY EAGLE. He is the most photographed eagle in the Philippines, he's the one you see in postcards and books.
A HEARTY MEAL.
